Asexual reproduction in Amoeba and Yeast
Asexual reproduction in Amoeba and Yeast :-
Reproduction is one of the basic characteristics of a living organism. An organism reproduces to produce more of its own kind. Reproduction may be either asexual or sexual. Asexual reproduction is common in lower plants and some lower animals. It is a process of rapid multiplication in which the new organisms produced are genetically identical to the parent.
Asexual reproduction may be of various types such as binary fission and budding. Binary fission is the division of one cell into two similar cells. It occurs in unicellular organisms like bacteria, yeast, Euglena, Amoeba and Paramecium. Sometimes new individuals develop from the body wall of the parent as bulb like projections called buds. Budding occurs in yeast. Hydra and sponges.
