Virtual Plant Cell: Drought Proof. VPC 360°
VPC: Drought Proof - Immerse yourself in the inner world of a plant cell. Learn about ways plant cells respond to drought. Drought affects the productivity of plants through reduced water availability, increased light levels and high temperatures. Plant Energy Biology researcher Dr Kai Chan (ACT Scientist of the Year, 2017) and his colleagues investigate the ways in which plants respond to and tolerate drought. Their recent discovery of a novel way plants can enhance their natural ability to conserve water has inspired the video VPC: Drought Proof. In response to drought, a cell signalling feedback loop enables plants to better tolerate dry, high-light conditions.
Virtual Plant Cell (VPC) is a suite of educational virtual reality experiences created by the ARC Centre of Excellence in Plant Energy Biology. Explore and learn about the sub-microscopic inner world of a plant.
