Importance of Light in Photosynthesis :-
Photosynthesis, process by which green plants and certain other organisms use the energy of light to convert carbon dioxide and water into the simple carbohydrates. In so doing, photosynthesis provides the basic energy source for virtually all organisms. An extremely important byproduct of photosynthesis is oxygen, on which most organisms depend.

Leaves are specialized organs on the stems of plants. Their most important function is to carry out the process of photosynthesis. All the necessary raw materials for photosynthesis come together in the leaf. Water comes from the plants' roots and carbon dioxide in the air enters through stomata, pores, in the leaf. Chlorophyll, the green pigment in leaves, captures light energy. The products of photosynthesis are oxygen and carbohydrates. In the leaf the excess glucose is changed to starch. If photosynthesis is taking place in the leaf, the leaf will contain starch.

This video explains how to show experimentally that light is necessary for photosynthesis.
